AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING

UPDATE: Middle School Honor Society members will now also be available during tutoring sessions to offer assistance.

Honor Society is offering after-school tutoring again this year.  It will take place in the high school library from 2:45-3:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  (If no students come for help, our tutors leave at 3:00).   

Students must come with a specific need like needing help with math homework, learning vocabulary, etc. and be able to communicate that need with the tutor.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE- LAST DAY!!!

It's almost time for THANKSGIVING 2017, so help the Northwestern Middle School Student Council collect 2017 non-perishable food items for the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Bring your donations to your homeroom teacher so he or she can keep track of how many items you donate! There will be prizes! The grade level to collect the most food (number if items) wins an afternoon movie. The Homeroom in the winning grade level with the most items wins a popcorn and pop treat! The top PERSON in each grade level will win a $20 gift card to AMC.... and there could be more! 

 

WINTER DANCE

The winter semi-formal dance has finally been scheduled! We will have the NMS student Council Winter Dance on Friday, December 8th from 7-9:00PM in the field house/auditorium lobby. Students will enter through door 38 on the Northside of the building. Tickets are $5. Any parent interested in chaperoning should contact Mr. LB (jeremy.leazenbybruce@nwsc.k12.in.us). Cookie and punch will be served. DJ Pugh has been contracted for our evening's music.  

 

BASEBALL TEAM FUNDRAISER

The baseball team is conducting a fundraiser over the next two weeks. We are selling player and fan gear for the 2018 season. Orders are due November 26th. All items will be in time for Christmas! You can find the link to order on the middle school website or on flyers that have been posted in the middle school.

GIRLS BASKETBALL- LAST OPEN GYM

Any girl interested in the upcoming basketball season, the last open gym will be Monday, November 20th in the high school gym from 5:30-7:00.  Any player who attends must have a physical on file in order to participate.  If you have any questions, please see Miss Racine. 

 

RECORDING SESSIONS

Do you play piano, guitar or another instrument?  Do you sing? Sign up in Mrs. Sinnamon's room, W-30 for morning recording sessions!! The sessions will be every Wednesday through December from 7:00-7:30 AM in the middle school Collaboration Lab.

REMINDER - FAMILY TRIP FORMS FOR THANKSGIVNG BREAK ARE DUE TODAY!!!

*****FORMS TURNED IN AFTER TODAY WILL RESULT IN AN UNEXCUSED ABSENCE*****

If you are going to miss school due to a family vacation, you MUST fill out a Family Trip form. These forms are available from the office or from the Middle School website under the ‘Information Tab”, ‘Parent/Student Forms,’ ‘Forms and Handouts’.

Your parent must fill out the top half of the form and then it must be turned in to the office for approval. Once approved, you must obtain signatures from all of your teachers and then the form must be turned in again to the office.

This process can take a few days so you need to plan ahead, as the form must be COMPLETED and TURNED IN TO THE OFFICE five SCHOOL days before you will be gone.

For instance, completed forms for Thanksgiving break, which starts Wednesday, November 22nd, must be received by TODAY, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14th.

The deadline for Christmas break, which starts Thursday, December 21, is WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13th.

The five school day deadline applies to both taking days before OR after the break. This means your form completed form must be returned five SCHOOL days BEFORE you leave.

First game is Friday January 12.
