Welcome to the NMS web site. As Principal, I believe you will find our website informative and a useful tool to gather information regarding NMS.
NMS is an outstanding middle school where we are committed to the success of each of our students. Strong parental involvement in the education of their children is a vital component to our success. Working together, we are helping the children grow into readers, writers, creative thinkers, and problem solvers, as we prepare them for life in the 21st century.
Our school is a traditional middle school made up of both 7th and 8th grades. The educators, support staff, and volunteers work together to provide an outstanding program where each student has an opportunity to achieve his or her potential in a safe and nurturing environment. Our School Improvement Plan guides our continuous school improvement efforts.
There are many ways for you to communicate with us. Our address, phone numbers, and email address are listed here on the website. We look forward to hearing from you regarding anything that can help us continue to thrive as an excellent school.
Have a great year!

The vision of Northwestern Middle School is to provide an environment, in collaboration with parents and community, which supports students' intellectual, ethical, social, and physical development. Students become life-long learners who develop critical thinking and leadership skills by engaging in a rigorous curriculum of core and unified arts content. Students are provided with opportunities to make appropriate decisions, think independently, communicate effectively, and display curiosity.
My name is Heather Racine, and I am the new counselor at Northwestern Middle School. I am very excited to be working with your student! While I may be new to the middle school, I am not new to the corporation. Most of the students remember me as their counselor at Northwestern Elementary and Howard Elementary. As the school counselor, I will meet with students individually as well as groups, and I will be visiting classrooms. If you or your child has any concerns, please feel free to call or E-mail me at school. I will be happy to assist you in any way that I can!
Also, if you want to know more about what is happening on my end, please visit my classroom web page under the Class Connect tab for updated information on lessons, field trips, and links to important sites!
Best wishes for a great school year!
Miss Heather Racine
